July Lunch Report

Chairman, Peter Rodd welcomes the members and introduced two guests.

Paul Williams, brother of member Peter, visiting from ||South Africa.

John Lawrence, our Speaker for the day.

Chairman reminded the members that the monthly Tuesday coffee morning meetings at Epsom Bowls Club were continuing until October and, at the moment, they were sparsely attended.

Application forms were distributed around the tables for the Ladies Lunch on August 8th.  Please complete and hand in asap to Barry Holmes.

John Lawrence gave a colourful illustrated talk of his recent visit to the Antarctic.  The journey included a flight to Argentina to board the ship, then a voyage which took in some of the Falkland Islands a well as the stop at the Antarctic base.  John is a keen bird spotter and his photos of some of the species of the Antarctic islands were spectacular, especially the variety of Albatrosses.

‘Summer’ in the Antarctic was not cold, John assured us, keen to encourage the idea of members giving it a try.  The members did not look convinced of his suggestion.  It still looked cold!
